What our patients say about their OPC experience...

Why OPC you ask??? Because they CARE. The do everything they can to make sure your prosthetic fits and you are pain free. I truly don't mind driving further to have people who truly care about their patients. I am so happy I made the change.

My story begins with a knee replacement that went wrong. But I won't dwell on that.

I began seeing a prosthetist in Feb '07. I wasn't getting the results I thought I needed so just quit going.

My orthopedist was very upset with my previous prosthetist and suggested I call The Orthotic Prosthetic Center.

I made an appointment with OPC in Nov 2010 and met with Elliot. The minute I walked into the office I totally felt welcome. Elliot took his time and listened to what I had been through. He immediately gave me his thoughts on how he could help me.
I have to say the quality of my life has totally changed and for the better. I no longer fall like I did with my first leg. I am not told there is "nothing more we can do".

OPC's office staff is amazing. They make every effort to get me seen within a day or so. I have very little wait time before I see either Elliot or Ben. They are wonderful. I have learned so much more than I was ever told since my amputation.

I would truly recommend for any amputee to see these guys. I want to thank my Orthopedic Physician, Dr Fleeter for sending me to OPC. They have changed my life for the better.

I was a watcher of “Rebuilt: The Human Body Shop” which was on the air about a year before I lost my right leg. I had started to seriously consider amputation at about that time. I’d been fighting infection in my knee for 2 years and could no longer straighten my leg fully or walk without crutches and pain. My mom and I both remember the day I looked at her halfway through an episode of “Rebuilt” and said, “If I end up losing my leg, this is where I want to go.” Watching the staff interact with patients and seeing how committed they are helped me realize that if it came down to amputation I would be OK.

A year later my leg was amputated above the knee and shortly thereafter, I met with the staff at OPC for the first time and found them to be every bit the incredible people I’d watched on TV. Because of my immune system I’ve had setbacks with infection in my stump and the OPC staff always sound just as shocked and upset as my family and I feel when it happens.

I drive an hour each way to be treated at OPC and the drive is more than worth it. When I call to make an appointment whether it’s for a test socket or an adjustment, I know that I will be seen within a few days of when I called. Everyone on the staff is friendly and attentive and they work with me to make sure my prosthesis fits and works correctly. I know that they truly care and are dedicated to seeing me and all of their other patients get back to where we were before our amputations and sometimes even going farther.

I highly recommend OPC to other amputees whether they are just starting out or are looking for a new prosthetic clinic. I’m very glad that I am a patient at OPC and will always be incredibly thankful to have them on my support team of doctors, family and friends.

I remember calling OPC after my amputation in 2003. It is strange, but I think that this was the first time I ever actually spoke the words "I am an amputee." I remember the receptionist Liz picking up the telephone and saying hello. I tried to speak, but could only form tears.

I will never forget the kindness and compassion that she demonstrated during that interaction. Without hesitation she told me that I was going to be okay, and that OPC would help me. She had Elliot get on the phone with me, and my recovery began. My first introduction to OPC and I already realized that these people care and are passionate about their work.

Many times it is difficult for me to explain the sensations I am feeling within my socket. Elliot and Ben have always been able to interpret my seemingly incomprehensible jabber to make the appropriate adjustments. Somehow they seem to understand me.

I've never been told that something wasn't possible. I have found the staff to be knowledgeable, compassionate and talented. I live in an area with a lot of Prosthetic options, but I can't imagine going anywhere else!
